5 Reasons to Replace Your Furnace

Do you find any comfort on a cold winter day when someone says to you: “Hey, at least we don’t live in Minnesota!”?  Probably not much, if any. You’d be especially unamused or tone deaf if, at the same time, your furnace were giving you problems.

So, given the fact that there’s nothing we of us can do about the weather, there’s plenty you can do to help ensure warm and comfortable indoor conditions throughout the winter months.

One of those is knowing when it’s time to part company with your furnace and replacing it with a high efficiency system that you can depend on for many years to come.  Still, how do you know when that time has come?

Here are five telltale signs:

  1. Hot and cold spots – If any rooms in your home are too hot or too cold, there’s a problem with heat distribution which could stem from the ductwork, furnace, or both. It could also mean your thermostat needs to be adjusted or replaced.

  2. Failing motor – Over time, especially with a lack of proper maintenance, the motor inside your furnace can begin to fail. When that happens, you’re bound to notice a humming noise.  If so, get it checked out right away.

  3. Soaring energy costs – Even with faithful annual maintenance, your furnace was not designed to last more than 15 years. So, if your heating costs have been steadily climbing, furnace replacement might be the only way to make a significant difference.

  4. More frequent repairs – While it’s always worth seeing if a problem can be repaired, sooner or later you’re going to arrive at that point where even one more repair isn’t worth the expense.

How about your furnace?  Is it showing signs of wear and tear?  Are you hearing strange noises or receiving heating bills that practically give you nose bleed? Whatever the problem might be, GBT is more than up to the challenge.  Contact us today for the service you need and advice you can depend on.
