Here in the central Tennessee, we ask a lot of our air conditioning systems. Long hours. No sleep. No pay.
So, the least we can do is give them the same comfort and care they give us. Without that, your system simply can’t perform up to par.
Here are a few self-maintenance tips to help you get more from you air conditioning system:
If it’s suddenly too hot or cold indoors, check your thermostat setting. Someone may have accidentally changed it.
Regularly clean (or replace) your filter. Otherwise, it will get clogged with dust and dirt and make it harder for your system to keep your comfortable.
Keep weeds and shrubs away from your outside condensing unit.
Clean the outside air compressor with water. A garden hose will do the trick.
Using a screwdriver or wrench, remove the fasteners on top of your outside compressor and lift the cage or fan grill away from the top. Using your hands or wet & dry vacuum, remove leaves and other debris.
While you’re at it, carefully straighten any bent fins on the outside unit using a butter knife or commercially available fin-straightening tool. That will help improve airflow.
Back indoors, keep clothing, furniture, window treatments and other obstructions away from vents and registers.
For optimum performance and reduced energy bills, it’s also a good idea to have your AC system professionally cleaned and inspected once a year. Here at GBT Heating & Cooling, that’s exactly what we do for hundreds of satisfied customers. Today, we’re offering that same money-saving service to you.
